Welcome to Microbes 2025 « Microbes in a transitional world » in Bordeaux!

We are delighted to welcome you to our city, where science and heritage come together. We invite you to explore a scientific program dedicated to the new risks and challenges posed by microorganisms in a world in transition. Our goal? To introduce you to the innovative approaches and solutions that microorganisms offer in supporting agroecological, environmental, food, and even energy transitions.

As we explore the mysteries of the microbial world and the scientific breakthroughs shaping our future, we also invite you to discover the treasures of this iconic city. Bordeaux, known as « the Pearl of Aquitaine », will charm you with its 18th-century architecture, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take the time to stroll around the Place de la Bourse, explore the little streets of the Saint-Pierre district, or visit its museums.

Wine is an inseparable symbol of Bordeaux's culture. You can uncover its secrets and history by visiting the Cité du Vin, followed by a tour of the surrounding vineyards.

If you love nature, you can also take a trip to the Arcachon Bay, with its sandy beaches and the majestic Dune of Pilat awaiting you.

Bordeaux is also an unmissable gastronomic destination. Don't miss the chance to taste a cannelé or savor fresh products from the Capucins market. And of course, after a day spent exploring the secrets of microbes, there's nothing like relaxing with a glass of wine at one of the many restaurants and wine bars — the perfect setting to reflect on the importance of yeasts and bacteria in the fermentation process – a lovely nod to the microscopic allies of oenology!

We hope this congress will inspire both your scientific mind and your appetite for discovery. Welcome to Bordeaux, and may microbiology continue to reveal its fascinating surprises, as captivating as the city itself!

The Local Organising Committee.
