Dear Colleagues and Members of the French Society of Immunology,
Welcome to the Website of the Annual Meeting of the French Society for Immunology (SFI 2011). As you will notice, we have put together an exciting scientific program featuring presentations by more than forty renowned researchers in basic and clinical immunology. This year's meeting does not carry a specific theme, as its main goal is to provide a broad, state-of-the-art representation of diverse fields of immunological research. In addition to seven plenary sessions, the meeting is comprised of fifteen thematic sessions that encompass a wide range of subjects, from innate and adaptive immune responses to cancer, allergic, autoimmune, inflammatory and infectious diseases, as well as immunotherapeutic approaches for treatment of these immunological disorders. We have put special emphasis on providing young researchers with the opportunity to present their work: a total of forty-eight submitted abstracts will be selected for presentation during these thematic sessions. We hope that this event will help to foster interactions between French junior researchers and internationally recognized scientists.
Two joint sessions with the Sociedad Española de Inmunología (SEI), the Société Française d'Allergologie (SFA) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), respectively, have been included in the program, together with The Pierre Grabar Lecture to commemorate the founding father of the SFI. The LFB-SFI Jacques Oudin Award for research in Basic and Clinical Immunology, the Miltenyi-SFI Young Researcher Award, the BD-Biosciences-SFI Thesis Award and the ImmunID-SFI Poster Awards will be given during this year's meeting.
As tradition has it, the annual meeting will be preceded by the traditional thematic workshop of the SFI that will cover the theme "Visualizing the immune system" to be held at the Medical Faculty of the University of Montpellier on Monday 7 November 2011. Finally, the Continued Medical Education (FMC) session "Update on the biological diagnosis of allergy" will take place Wednesday 9 November.
We look forward to a fruitful meeting, outstanding talks and invite you to also profit from the pleasant environs of Montpellier.
Sincerely,
Hans Yssel
