Lindy Holden-Dye
Lindy Holden-Dye is Professor of Neuroscience at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Southampton, UK. During her research career she worked her way down the evolutionary tree from mammalian systems, via molluscs, to nematodes. Throughout she has pursued an interest in the fundamental aspects of how a nervous system can encode behaviour. For more than 20 years she has explored this phenomenon in Caenorhabditis elegans and used this understanding to provide insight into the neural basis of behaviours in parasitic nematodes. Currently she is particularly interested in the mechanisms underpinning behavioural plasticity driven by environmental cues. Her lecture will focus on recent insights into signaling within nematode populations that drive distinct behavioural responses.
