Owing to the coronavirus situation,
we inform you that the first EURO-KiDS meeting 2021 will be held online.
Welcome to the first European Congress on Kawasaki Disease
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a great honour, and a real pleasure to welcome you all, physicians, health professionals and patients in Paris for the first Kawasaki European congress. Previous IKDS conferences have mostly targeted so far physicians from Eastern Asia and the United States, and could not provide enough accessibility to European countries. Even if more frequent in Asian countries, Kawasaki disease affects 5-15/100,000 children under 5 years every year in European countries and continues to affect the heart in up to 40% of them with irreversible damage in up to 5%. Even if Kawasaki disease remains a difficult disease to understand, recognize and treat, these last years have provided fascinating new data, which could help to improve its management and outcome.
EURO-KiDs will be a rare opportunity of networking for general paediatricians, paediatric rheumatologists, infectious diseases specialists, immunologists, and paediatric cardiologists. Young students and trainees will also be welcomed.
The local organizing committee has worked a lot to offer you a high level program in two complementary parts.
1/ Half-day Workshop: ‘Innate immunity in the pathophysiology of autoinflammatory diseases. Unmet needs, biomarkers’ aimed to gather experiences on new treatment targets, biomarkers, data repositories, outcome measures, integrated research strategies, and e-health, in the field of multifactorial disorders of the innate immunity.
2/ Two-day main congress: will be aimed to update on clinical innovations, recommendations, basic science, and will give the opportunity to share clinical experiences. The mains topics will include: epidemiology, genetics, pathogenesis, diagnosis, risk factors, management, cardiac complications, and outcome. Sessions will also be dedicated to interactive presentation of difficult cases and best oral communications.
Posters tours will be another great opportunity to provide lively interactions between presenters and participants, and we hope you will enjoy it. The scientific program includes great speakers and recognized KD specialists throughout Europe and outside. You will be able to follow the congress schedule either on the program book or directly online through the website.
The First EURO-KiDs congress will be endorsed by the Société Française de Pédiatrie, the Société francophone des rhumatismes et maladies inflammatoires pédiatriques: SOFREMIP, the Pediatric rheumatology European society: PReS among others.
We will be pleased to meet you online in January 2021
