Thesis Awards
PhD Thesis Prize
- The SFM will award three PhD thesis prizes to young microbiology doctors under 35 years of age who defended their university thesis between June, 2022 and June, 2023.
- These thesis prizes will be awarded after a selection of six winners to be made by the SFM scientific committee on applications received before 30 June, 2023.
- The application file must be prepared:
- Complete application packages must be sent to the following address before 30 June, 2023:
secretariat@sfm-microbiologie.org - The six selected nominees will be informed by 31 July, 2023. They will be invited to present their work at a dedicated plenary session at the national congress to be held 4 October, 2023. The laureate of the three best papers will receive the SFM 2023 thesis prize of € 1,000.
- For the six nominees, registration for the congress will be offered and travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the SFM with a flat-rate reimbursement of € 400. Two years of SFM contributions will also be available.
- - a copy (PDF) of the university thesis defended between 1 June, 2022 and 30 June, 2023,
- - a cover letter,
- - a covering letter from the thesis director.

Scholarships 2023
SFM supports young researchers
- The French Society of Microbiology (SFM) has set itself the mission of supporting young microbiologists by awarding travel grants to present their work at the congress.
Travel Awards
- 6 SFM grants including a free registration to the congress and reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses to a maximum amount of € 250 (upon proof of expenses)
- Eligibility conditions:
- Persons interested in this measure and wishing to benefit from it should send their request accompanied by their CV before 31 July, 2023 to secretariat@sfm-microbiologie.org
- - be a member of the SFM,
- - be under 35 years of age,
- - have an accepted presentation,
- - justify the lack of support from the laboratory on which you depend and the modesty of your own resources.
